Shareholder Kathleen Cruickshank, a member of the firm’s Bankruptcy and Financial Restructuring practice, has been named to the newly formed COVID-19 standing committee of the Boston Bar Association’s Bankruptcy Section. It is expected that the COVID-19 crisis will significantly increase the number of bankruptcy cases among consumers and will drive up the demand for pro bono legal services. While monitoring the situation closely, Cruickshank and other members of the Committee are currently focusing on:
- Adapting the current pro-bono Bankruptcy Section’s protocols to COVID-19 situations.
- Creating materials to update attorneys on changes made to Bankruptcy Code, rules and laws and relevant state laws in response to COVID-19.
- Producing training materials for new attorneys entering the bankruptcy field who volunteer to take on pro-bono consumer bankruptcy cases to help to meet the anticipated need in light of the impact of COVID-19.
