Murphy & King’s David Evans Appointed to Court of Arbitration for Sport

Boston (October 21, 2013) – Murphy & King, Professional Corporation announced today that Shareholder, David L. Evans, has been named to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

The Court of Arbitration for Sport, often referred to as the “Sports Supreme Court,” is an international institution independent of any sports organization which provides for services to facilitate the settlement of sport-related disputes, through arbitration or mediation, by means of procedural rules adapted to the specific needs of the sport world.  CAS is based in Lausanne, Switzerland. Evans also serves on the Board of Directors for the American Arbitration Association.

CAS’s arbitrators adjudicate disputes relating to the execution of contracts, such as those relating to sponsorship, the sale of television rights, the staging of sports events, player transfers and relations between players or coaches and clubs and/or agents (employment contracts and agency contracts). CAS also handles disciplinary cases ,a large number of which are doping-related.

Evans is co-chair of Murphy & King’s Litigation Department. He represents large public corporations, closely held companies and individuals in the resolution of complex business and intellectual property disputes.
